Frequently Asked Questions

What are Elite Qualifying Nights (EQNs)?
Elite Qualifying Nights (EQNs) are nights that count towards earning World of Hyatt elite status. You can earn them through hotel stays, credit card spending, and promotional offers. These nights determine your elite status level: Discoverist (10 nights), Explorist (30 nights), or Globalist (60 nights).
How do I earn EQNs through credit card spend?
The World of Hyatt Consumer Credit Card earns 2 EQNs for every $5,000 spent. The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card earns 5 EQNs for every $10,000 spent. These EQNs stack with nights earned from hotel stays and count towards elite status qualification.
How does spend rollover work between calendar years?
For the Consumer card, spend progress towards the next 2 EQNs carries over between years. The EQNs are credited in the calendar year when you cross each $5,000 threshold. The Business card spend resets every January 1st - any progress towards the next 5 EQNs is lost at year-end.

For example: If you spend $7,000 on your Consumer card in December, you'll earn 2 EQNs for crossing the $5,000 threshold, and the extra $2,000 will count towards your next $5,000 threshold in the new year. However, if you spend $7,000 on your Business card in December, you'll earn no EQNs (since you didn't reach the $10,000 threshold), and your progress resets to $0 on January 1st.
What are the free night certificates?
The World of Hyatt Consumer Credit Card offers a free night certificate (valid at category 1-4 hotels) when you spend $15,000 in a calendar year. This is in addition to the free night certificate you receive each card anniversary.
How does the calculator determine the best spending strategy?
The calculator compares three scenarios: spending only on the business card, only on the consumer card, or a combination of both. It calculates the minimum spend needed to reach your EQN goal in each scenario. The most cost-effective option is highlighted in green. The combined strategy maximizes the business card's better earning rate (5 EQNs per $10,000) before using the consumer card for any remaining nights needed.
Does the calculator save my progress?
Yes, the calculator automatically saves your inputs (spend amounts, non-credit card nights, and milestone goal) to your browser's local storage. These values will be restored when you return to the calculator, making it easy to track your progress throughout the year.
